Three Earthquakes Strike North of Malibu, L.A.

"We felt a pretty good shake," said one resident who lives in the Point Dume area of Malibu. "It was like a big truck driving past, but then it just kept going." Another resident, who lives in nearby Calabasas, described the experience as "a sudden jolt followed by a rolling motion."
While the earthquakes were relatively small in magnitude, their proximity to populated areas and the rapid succession of tremors have caused some concern among residents. The USGS has reported a slightly elevated level of seismic activity in the region in recent weeks, but scientists emphasize that the recent series of earthquakes is not unusual for the area.
